This is a wonderful oddity, and it was a pleasure to photograph. It's a Toshiba OB-1560a dynamic microphone. It is reminiscent me of one of the rare wood-bodied Fender F-520 microphone. It’s a fascinating mic not only because of the wooden body but also because of the unexpectedly burly “patent-pending" aircraft-style spring-locking connector. There isn’t much else to say about this mic other than it sounds surprisingly good and definitely holds its own on a guitar cab. We’ll get to recording some samples of it someday.
