DETAILED DESCRIPTION (click to expand)

Another petite bi-directional ribbon microphone from mid-century Japan. Perfect mint condition with original suitcase and manual - serviced by Cole Suddarth.

The E-Type may look familiar in styling, being reminiscent of the RCA 74a Jr. It's also very reminscent of another Japanese ribbon mic, the Toshiba F-Type. But as you might expect, internally and sonically it's different from both of them. The Type E uses three horseshoe magnets mounted in the back of the motor, and a long thin ribbon. It possesses a bi-directional pickup pattern and has a prominent midrange character with extended low end and limited high frequency response making it great for guitar amps, drums, or as a supplemental character mic.

This particular E-Type is in like-new condition, and appears as though it has never been used and was stored in a humidity and temperature controlled environment. It is one of the finest looking vintage mics we have ever seen, and it sounds like a goddam time capsule.

The recording below was made entirely using only this Type-E. There is no processing on any of the tracks.

We also have the original multitrack stems if you'd like to hear the mic on individual sources. Please reach out for access.
