The Sony FV-300 is one the most intriguing dynamic microphones in the world of transducers, and is brutally rare. I believe this was Sony's flagship professional Japanese karaoke mic, and it is highly sought after in recording circles for its shocking resemblance to the Sony C48 and it's excellent sonic characteristics.
We've only ever seen three of these mics come up for sale, and we bought every one. Of those three, only one had its original diaphragm intact. The other one wound up with an NOS beyer m380 diaphragm, and this one wound up with an NOS Sennheiser 402-1 diaphragm, famously used in the very first MD409 microphones that now sell for thousands of dollars.
The diaphragm was carefully installed by none other than Cole Suddarth at Cole Picks Vintage. He left the original output transformer for its unique coloration, and disabled the unnecessary on/off switch. The mic has a new Canare star-quad cable and Neutrik XLR.
