The MK13m is one of our favorite mics - ever. Our MK13m pair gets used on almost every session, despite having hundreds of other mics to choose from.
This one has been fully restored, recapped, and reskinned and comes with its original PSU. It sounds fantastic and is ready for regular studio use.
The orginal BP60 power supply requires 220V for proper operation. We can recommend an affordable step-up transformer to use with your mic.
The Oktava MK13m is a Soviet multi-pattern large diaphragm germanium FET condenser microphone featuring a double-sided M7 style capsule and solid state amplifier. It is the smaller and younger sibling of the MK13 tube microphone. The Cyrillic character "m" following "MK13" is actually a "т" meaning "transistor" - this is the transistorized version of the MK13 tube mic.
It shares the same capsule and similar output transformer as its older brother the MK13, but employs a solid state amplifier instead. Unlike most solid state microphones, the MK13m requires an external PSU with three push-buttons for polar pattern selection.
Like the MK13, it's incredibly well-built with the same gorgeous-sounding M7 capsule. What truly sets this mic apart is its germanium FET amplifier, which produces fantastic saturation and compression that's uniquely musical - unlike any other mic I've encountered.
While many MK13m's have been modified into tube mics (which does sound wonderful, similar to the MK13), I find its original FET amplifier offers a truly unique sound that makes it a true favorite for drums, guitar amps, and vocals.
