The MD66 is a super rare Soviet dynamic microphone from 1980. We acquired a pair together a couple years ago, and they are the only two MD66's we have ever seen. We are keeping one, and selling this one.
The MD66 appears to be an MD66b with an elongated body and handle, presumably to be used as a reporter mic.
The mic has a limited frequency response tailored to voice, and also loses sensitivity from a distance to help prevent extraneous sounds from getting picked up. This makes it a great talkback mic, and especially a great bottom snare or top snare mic for color. It's definitely a funky off-beat color mic.
