DETAILED DESCRIPTION

The Neumann SM69 FET is a stereo multi-pattern large diaphragm condenser microphone that was manufactured from 1970 through 2010 and uses two K67 capsules. The top capsule can rotate from 0 to 270 degrees.

This particular SM69 FET came from the Indiana University School of Music (now know as the Jacob's School of Music), and was presumably bought by them brand new. When I was a student there in 1998, this mic wasn't working so I never got to use it. Fast forward to 2022, and I have the opportunity to buy it alongside a ton of other non-functioning audio equipment. So I buy it.

The mic needed its circuit boards reseated, its cable repaired, and its capsules reskinned. I also found a new Neumann badge and new screws for the body. And now it's working beautifully, and sounds exactly how an SM69 FET should sound - absolutely incredible.

Use one capsule as a mono mic and you've basically got a vintage U87 with a different head basket.

Mic comes with original case, the phantom powered pattern control box, its cable, and a clip that holds it just right.
