DETAILED DESCRIPTION (click to expand)

The National WM703 is a bidirectinal ribbon microphone manufactured in Japan in the late 1960's by National, which turned into Panasonic/Ramsa in the 1970's and was one of the primary professional microphone manufacturers in Japan alongside Aiwa, Toshiba, and Sony since the 1950's (they were called Matsushita in the early years).

This microphone has been fully serviced with a new ribbon by Cole Suddarth (Cole Picks).

The WM703 is a surprisingly great sounding ribbon microphone. The front side has a smooth and balanced darker ribbon tone, and the rear side, believe it or not, has the same smooth sound but with substantially more top end, making it an incredibly versatile ribbon mic that performs way above it's price point. This could easily be a studio workhorse ribbon with just the right amount of vibe and fidelity to be used on almost any or every sound source.
