DETAILED DESCRIPTION (click to expand)

The National VM-1 is a bidirectional ribbon microphone manufactured in Japan in the late 1950's by National. It utilizes a relatively long ribbon and has a rich and vibey tone with plenty of low end and character. It's race car blue paint job and mid-century aesthetic makes it a real sharp looker.

A truly rare microphone, this one comes complete with its original leather bound suitcase with goldenrod interior, manual, and frequency response chart.

National was previously called Matsushita and later changed its name to Panasonic/Ramsa in the 1970's. The company was one of the primary professional microphone manufacturers in Japan alongside Aiwa, Toshiba, and Sony since the 1940's. Unfortunately the pictured National desk stand is not included with the microphone.

This microphone has been fully serviced with a new cable and CLR, and a fresh ribbon by Cole Suddarth (Cole Picks).
