The kit includes everything needed to replace the 1 microfarad wax paper MBM capacitor with a super rare Soviet audiophile-grade cellulose acetate 76k-3 capacitor as well as a modern Kemet tantalum capacitor and a niobium cap to replace the other two caps in the circuit. The 76K-3 capacitor can also replace the wax paper caps in the 19a4 (usually in the PSU) and the 19a18.
The kit also includes original NOS capacitors so the mic can be reverted to original at any time.
We have only 40 kits available, these are the last of the K76-3 capacitors in existence as they were an experimental design made in very small quantities. They were too expensive to manufacture so the project was abandoned.
The difference in sound is a noticeable improvement in top end smoothness and low frequency clarity. We have comparison recordings that you can listen to, please reach out to have a listen.
We offer the upgrade as a DIY kit, or we can perform the modification for you if you ship us your microphone(s). The installation includes a before and after recording of your microphone and return shipping and insurance to the continental USA.
