The KINAP 82a2 is a very rare Soviet large diaphragm dynamic microphone. They were issued with two different shock mounting systems. I've posted photos of two different 82a2s for reference. One is a rubber isolation shock mount built into the stand adapter, and the other is a spring loaded suspended shock mount. The diaphragm is made of aluminum, although that might just be a protective dust cover to protect debris from entering the motor. These mics are shockingly well-built and sound simply amazing and are a favorite in our studio on kick drums, bass amps, guitar amps, and even vocals. They have a beautiful full-range sound that is colored and musical. We had three of them, and even after 70+ years of life they all sounded virtually identical which is pretty impressive for a vintage dynamic microphone.
These microphones are very hard to come by, especially in their original state, as many of them have been gutted and converted into DIY tube condensers.

You can hear this mic in action by listening to our "proprietary microphone jingle" from the audio player below.
The entire song was recorded using the MS-2 for every instrument. The pair was used on drums with one positioned about 3 ft above the snare, and one positioned in front of the kick, raised about 6” above the top of it, pointed at the snare. We then used a single one for each amp and vocal. Everything was recorded at modest levels through our Sphere Eclipse console preamps into a Burl A/D without any processing whatsoever..
