This is the best deal in discrete EQs. The Iron Age V2 is a stereo/dual mono discrete solid state EQ that appears to be a (much better) take on the API 5500. I've owned that EQ as well, and can say with certainty that the V2 does it all better. All controls are on quality rotary switches, the electronics are discrete, and with transformer balanced outputs.
It's firm, crisp, and clear with some muscle and grip, but a lightness in the top end that makes it very versatile in any tracking, mixing, or mastering application. The high/low cut button is perfect for guitars. And you can switch from tracking and mastering mode with the flick of a switch, changing the gain value of each position of the gain switches.
I am floored by the cost of this unit. It outperforms most EQs I've ever tried, including many costing 3-5 times as much, including the API 5500, Crane Song Ibis and Tonelux something or other.
