This is the C12 to get if you want a perfect sounding example that will give you decades of reliable use. It has an original CK12 capsule reskinned by Peter Drefahl, the original T14/1 output transformer, original N12 PSU, switchbox and cabling. The internal structure has been replaced, as it should be since the original plastic has started deteriorating in these mics. The other electronic parts have been replaced with original or better components, and the tech work is exceptional, as you can see from the photos. I sent the mic to John Peluso to give an official evaluation, and here are his notes (I can forward you the original email if you are interested):
Hi Mike:The condition of your C-12 Microphone System is in excellent shape, I give it a 9.5 out of 10.I give this rating because the essential parts of this microphone are there in original shape, Including the original Capsule & Output Transformer (AKGT14/1 ). The inner frame has been replaced with a new part fixing the poor aging of the internal plastic rings and lugs, the original capsule looks to have been reskinned by PeterDrefahl. This is exactly the correct part and what I would use on one of my C-12's . The resistors and caps were replaced with equal or better parts, again removing age related failure issues for a long time in the future. The outer shell has been glass beaded to bring out the original color and looks like new!
