DETAILED DESCRIPTION (click to expand)

Bi-directional ribbon microphone from Japan. Perfect mint condition with original suitcase and manual - serviced by Cole Suddarth.

The F-Type may look familiar in styling, being reminiscent of the RCA 74a Jr, but it's quite a unique design that is unlike any other ribbon. One of the things that makes it so unique is it's unusually long ribbon - the longest ribbon anyone we know has ever seen in a microphone! It also has a unique output transformer, and a highly unusual mechanical rear dampening system (controlled with the dial on the bottom of the mic), which controls the microphone's directionality. As you might expect, the mic sounds best in it's native and unobstructed bi-directionality setting. One of the most unique sounding ribbon mics we've ever used, and it gets used a lot. It provides a very useable full-range sound with a ton of smokey character that is still high fidelity. You wont' find a better example of an F-Type anywhere in the world.

This particular F-Type is like-new condition, and appears as though it has never been used and was stored in a humidity and temperature controlled environment. It is one of the finest looking vintage mics we have ever seen, and it sounds absolutely wonderful.

The recording below was made entirely using only this Type-F. This is our second original Microphone Jingle, written and performed by Lewis Rogers. There is no processing on any of the tracks.

We also have the original multitrack stems if you'd like to hear the mic on individual sources. Please reach out for access.
