The DACS Clarity Micamp 2 is a UK-built transformerless microphone preamp that delivers exceptional "hyper-real" clarity that truly shocked me the first time I heard it. While it is a "clean" preamp in terms of distortion and noise, it has a way of making your recording glow in a way I've never heard before. It's exceptionally versatile with tons of gain, a pad, and a 3-way high-pass filter on each channel. There are separate inputs for phantom power to keep the non-phantom signal path as clean as possible (which is also why there are no phantom power switches on the preamp). The Micamp 2 costs more than double this price plush shipping and VAT if bought new, so this is an incredible deal for a refreshingly gorgeous sounding mic preamp.
We swapped out the original knobs for vintage Rogan knobs that were used on Sphere consoles for a look that suited our tastes a little better. The front panel has some scratches and blemishes, which is part of the reason it's so affordable.
We're very sad to let it go, and are only selling it because of two reasons, one is practical (we needed more channels and were limited on space, so we got a 1U 4 channel preamp) and one impractical reason - the blue color clashed miserably with the DBX 786 below it.
